The DIG Program is an online CRASH course for digital citizenship.

It provides guidelines for:

Conduct, Reputation, Authenticity, Safety and Habits

Digital Conduct

Students explore how their online behavior can have a lasting impact on their personal and school lives. Topics covered include cyberbullying, sexting and the importance of reporting threats.  The segment promotes good manners, thoughtfulness and empathy in their digital life.

Digital Reputation

Students learn about managing and maintaining their digital footprint through examples and exercises. The segment makes suggestions on how to be smart and safe about the content they post, including using social media to brandish a positive online reputation.

Digital Authenticity

Students learn about the importance of authenticity. This segment stresses being genuine in all of their online activitities and introduces the "3Vs Detector" for checking the validity, veracity and verifiability of people, apps and sites they engage with, including detecting fake news.

Digital Safety

Students review the risks and consequences they face when they are online.  The segment suggests actions  they can take to limit the personal information they share, adjust privacy settings, be more mindful of what they post, and make their device and apps more secure.

Students see how near-constant phone and apps usage negatively impacts mental health and well-being through dependency.  The segment uses the Habit Loop to show students how to break bad habits and start new ones for a safe, smart and healthy life - both online and off.
